Cecilia D. Homison to lead largest credit union in the region
Tallahassee, Fla.- Florida Commerce Credit Union announced today the appointment of Cecilia D. Homison as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) effective March 1, 2009. Homison succeeds long-time Florida Commerce CEO, Ron Fye, who is retiring.
Homison will lead the largest credit union in the North Florida region, with more than 36,000 members. Homison began her credit union career at Heritage Trust Federal Credit Union in South Carolina as the Assistant Vice President/Controller in 1988; and later held the positions of Vice President Finance, Senior Vice President Finance/Controller and Chief Operations Officer.
In 2000, she joined Florida Commerce as Chief Financial Officer. As an accomplished senior executive, Homison is experienced in revenue growth management, strategic planning, facilities expansion, human resources and employee development.
"Cecilia brings a successful track record and wealth of industry knowledge as the new leader of Florida Commerce," said J.R. Phelps, Chairman of the Florida Commerce Board of Directors. "She is committed to providing the highest level of personal financial service to our members and the community."
Homison says one of her immediate goals is to increase credit union resources for small business owners.
"Given today's economic climate, it is critical that Florida Commerce establishes itself as a lifeline to the business community," said Homison. "We have already broadened our services to meet the needs of our members with our financial fitness program. Now, we are increasing our level of commitment to our commercial members with new products and services to help meet their needs."
In addition to her work, Homison enjoys teaching applied economics to local high school students through the Junior Achievement program sponsored by the Jim Moran Institute for Global Entrepreneurship. The program promotes an understanding of entrepreneurship and business to high school students.
