If you're a Florida Commerce member between the ages of 13 and 17, you qualify for the SmartStart Teen Program featuring checking and loan services.

Teens must complete this quiz in order to receive their SmartStart certificate.

The Florida Commerce SmartStart Teen Checking Account:

• No monthly service charges (the checking account is FREE)
• Your first box of checks is free when you complete our Online SmartStart Checking Tutorial. Just bring in your certificate of completion when you sign up for your account.
• Free MasterCard Check Card
• Free Online banking via iBranch!
• You don't need to keep a minimum balance to avoid monthly charges ( but try not to let it get down to zero)
• You only need $5.00 or more in your savings account
• You don't pay ATM fees when you use an FCCU ATM or make a purchase at Point of Sale machine (grocery store, pharmacy, attractions)
• No account co-signer required!

SmartStart MasterCard ATM/Debit Card

As a member you are also entitled to the SmartStart MasterCard ATM/debit card. Your debit card can be used at any Florida Commerce ATM and anywhere MasterCards are accepted. Your "no annual fee" MasterCard ATM/debit card works like an "electronic check." Although it closely resembles a credit card, there's one big difference: debit card transactions are deducted from your checking account balance. Make sure you have sufficient funds in your account to cover all purchases.

SmartStart Member Advantages

As a SmartStart member, you can borrow money if you demonstrate you have the ability to make your loan payment. If you're under 18 years old, but a least 16, your parent or legal guardian must be a credit-worthy co-applicant on any loan you wish to make. That means if you don't pay the monthly payment, they will be responsible for making the payment for you. (Requires auto-pay from your savings or checking account.)

Loan amounts start at $300 and go up to an amount to purchase a computer or first car. Be mindful that you will be charged a late fee if your payment is late.
