How to verify the site with the Secure Seal

In order to protect yourself from the growing number of online email scams perpetrated by criminals attempting to steal your financial information, be sure to verify that you are on the real Florida Commerce home page, and not a copy created by a phisher.

Using the Secure Seal

To ensure the identity if the site, use the Secure Seal to verify that the security certificate is valid. You can do this by simply pointing your mouse on the Secure Seal and checking to make sure that the pop reads "Valid" as shown in this example.

You can also click on the icon, and open the verficiation screen in a new window.

Checking the validity of the site each time you log in will help protect against the chances that you are the victim of a phishing attack.

Other ways to protect yourself

  • Never click on a link in your email to open up a financial services website
  • We will never ask you to verify your credit or debit card numbers, so be wary if someone asks for that information
  • Always check to make sure that the site is SSL encrypted - look for the lock in the corner of your browser window
  • Make sure the URL reads https://www.floridacommerce.org/ and be aware if there are any variations of this including things like floridacommerce.0rg (with a zero instead of an o in org).
  • Report any suspicious activity as soon as possible to fraud@floridacommerce.org
